Art as a Sanctuary in the Slower Season
JULY IN THE STUDIO
As the pace of the world softens and the air turns icy, I find myself returning — again and again — to the sanctuary of my art practice. There is something sacred about these slower months. Something that invites us to pause, to notice more, and to create from a place of deep presence.
In this mid-year stillness, we are gifted the chance to make space — not just in our homes, but in our inner world. And within that space, art becomes more than something we make… it becomes something that holds us.
New Work: The Subtle Stories of Stillness
Lately, I’ve been working on a new collection of paintings that reflect this seasonal quiet — gentle pieces where nature and symbolism meet in small, contemplative moments.
One of these works features a curious magpie perched beside a glass vase, studying a curling stem and a visiting bee. It’s a scene that holds so much to me: attentiveness, fragility, the beauty of pause. The way the bird watches — but doesn’t move — feels like a meditation in itself.
This series has become a study in soft magic — in the beauty of reflections, tension, and silent connection. It’s teaching me that not all stories are loud. Some speak in glances, in shadows, in tiny acts of stillness.
These pieces will soon be available as prints, and I’ll be sharing more of their evolution over the coming weeks. The originals will be exhibited from the
19th July at Tyger Gallery
Winter Rituals to Reconnect
Sacred Journaling at Dawn
There’s something about journaling in the early morning or early evening, as the light fades and the world slows. I often sit by the window, wrapped in a soft throw, and let my thoughts spill onto the page.
Try this simple prompt:
What am I holding that no longer serves me?
And what do I want to welcome in its place?
No need to edit or overthink — just let your pen become a channel. It’s a gentle way to clear your energy and return to your centre.
Prints That Hold Healing Energy
This piece invites you onto the trail of a coastal hike, where low-lying native shrubbery lines the path and the expansive pale blue sky stretches overhead. Soft, dreamy clouds drift across the horizon and fill the sky, guiding you forward with a sense of calm and wanderlust. Bring the essence of exploration and serenity into your space with a stunning print of Jaqueline's original painting.

WE'RE ALL THE SAME REFLECTIONS invites us to take a deeper look into ourselves and our environment. This painting captures the stillness of the afternoon. Bathed in golden light, the surrounding bushland surrenders to the coolness of the river where the reflections are clear and run deep. It's a place where one can find refuge and fall deeply into contemplation.

This piece invites you to peer through towering tree trunks, revealing a glimpse of a hidden lake nestled in an opening in the distance. The journey there is traced over soft shadows cast upon the forest floor, evoking a sense of calmness and serenity—as if you’ve discovered a secret hideaway untouched by time.
