Creativity, Compassion & Higher Consciousness – My July Reflections
July has felt like a month of quiet transformation. The energy has shifted — sometimes gently, sometimes in ways that called us to pause and take a deeper look at how we’re moving through the world. I’ve been reflecting on how compassion — for ourselves and for others — can be the bridge that carries us through these shifts. And for me, creativity has been that bridge too — grounding me, centring me, and helping me return to my true essence.
A Joyful Mid-Year Milestone
In the middle of the month, I had the privilege of showing my work at Tyger Gallery in Yass. It was a joy to see my smaller still life paintings resonate with collectors — most small paintings have now found new homes (with only two left if you feel called to claim one).
My larger works are still available and I encourage you to see them as more than art — they are invitations into stillness, beauty, and connection. Like any meaningful artwork, they hold both aesthetic and emotional value… and, over time, they become part of your personal story.
The Power of Self-Nurture
This truth came alive during my recent workshop with wellness coach Sylvia Spruce. We gathered a beautiful group of women for an afternoon of painting, connection, and soul work. As the hours passed, I watched a subtle but powerful shift happen: the realisation that giving time to oneself is not a luxury, but a necessity.
So often we label self-nurture as “decadent,” but in reality, it’s a lifeline. Through the process of creating, these women rediscovered parts of themselves they’d tucked away. They left lighter, more present, and with a renewed sense of inner warmth.
A New Chapter: The Ascended Masters
In my studio, a new body of work is taking shape — one that will likely span the next twelve months. I’m creating a series of twelve paintings, each depicting an Ascended Master I feel energetically drawn to: Yeshua, Mother Mary, Green Tara, Isis, and others yet to reveal themselves.
I’ve been studying their portrayals across spiritual and religious texts, alongside historical accounts. What I find most compelling is the shared thread running through their stories: they each operated from a higher level of consciousness, inspiring love, hope, and transformation in all who crossed their paths.
Their lives are reminders that we can transcend the limiting beliefs impressed upon us in childhood. We can return to our true nature, fall in love with ourselves again, and in doing so, become vessels of light — capable of radiating compassion to others, the planet, and all beings.
A book that has opened doors for me in this exploration is The Sophia Code by Kaia Ra. It’s a beautiful invitation into deeper connection with these guides and the wisdom they carry.
Helpful Tip: Using Creativity to Come Back to Yourself
When the world feels overwhelming, here are three gentle ways to use creativity as a centring practice:
Create without expectation – Let go of needing it to “be good.” Let the act itself be the reward.
Pair it with ritual – Light a candle, make tea, or put on a piece of music that makes you feel open.
Reflect afterwards – allow for moments in nature, even just 10 min. Write down one feeling or insight that arose while you took in the fresh air.
These small acts have a way of bringing you back to your centre — reminding you that your essence is never lost, only waiting for you to return.
As we move into the end of August , my hope is that we keep holding compassion — for ourselves, for each other, and for the journey we’re on. Creativity and time in nature can be our compass, our sanctuary, and our way back to the light we carry.
