Open Water – Original Coastal Landscape Painting (Forster NSW)

Original coastal landscape painting by Jaqueline Burgess inspired by Forster NSW, featuring turquoise ocean, rocky cliffs and waves

Open Water

This painting was inspired by time spent along the NSW Northeren coastline near Cellito Beach Forster, New South Wales, where the meeting of rock, sea and sky creates a feeling of openness and movement.

The turquoise water, layered headland and crashing waves drew me in immediately. There is something both calming and powerful about standing at the edge of the ocean and feeling its constant rhythm.

Open Water is a reflection on space, freedom and the beauty of the Australian coast. It speaks to that quiet pull many of us feel toward the sea — a place that can energise, soothe and bring us back to ourselves.

This piece forms part of my wider collection of Australian landscape paintings, inspired by real places and moments of connection with the natural world.
